The main sites of interest in this area are:

Malpais Mesa, Conglomerate Mesa, and the Nelson Range are located north of the Darwin area, south of Saline Valley, and southwest of Hunter Mountain. Malpais Mesa is a high mesa above 7000 feet that is home to a yucca forest. Junipers and Pines grow in the Conglomerate Mesa area and in the Nelson Range. There are quite a few interesting roads to explore in the Conglomerate Mesa area. |
