The main sites of interest in this area are:

Vehicular access to this area is surprisingly good considering the rugged terrain. Dirt roads enter both Hanaupah and Johnson Canyons. Also a dirt road reaches the crest of the Panamint Range at Mahogany Flats where the trailhead for Telescope Peak is located. A site of special interest is Hungry Bill's Ranch in Johnson Canyon where several fruit trees grow. The hike to Hungry Bill's is less than a couple miles, but if you are feeling ambituous Panamint Pass is at the top of the canyon! |
